Asphalt 8: Airborne | A stunner by Gameloft
Airborne name just suits the game. It’s a marvelous game with great graphics. The graphics are just mind blowing. With excellent and user-friendly gameplay Asphalt 8: Airborne is the perfect game we can just call it “The Pinnacle”. You can play it in various modes like multiplayer by connecting with the internet, and Wi-Fi or a solo race. You can also play in a Career mode where we can play just like living reality. In this mode, players get to start their game with a minimal budget car. You can earn money by winning races, making plans and playing tricks. As we move up in the game, more levels will unlock. You will get stars for your achievements.
The game showcase includes 182 legendary cars which will race with dragon speed. The players can either buy them with real world money (feature newly introduced) or can unlock them by playing the game. The cars are categorized into 5 classes (A, B, C, D, and E). The rank rating feature will let the players rate the favorite car and hence get to determine its performance.
The Locations of racing in the game not only resemble the real-world places. But with graphics, they appear more realistic and rocking. Each event in the game is in a city which includes both night view and day view. Players can enjoy the scenic view around while racing making the race more spellbinding. Players will drive through great deserts of Nevada in one race. And find themselves speeding through the streets of Tokyo in another.
Coming to Gameplay, It is quite impressive and more user-friendly, easily adaptable and more feasible. It is similar to that of Asphalt 7: Heat. The player will be given four control options: “Tilt to steer” (auto-acceleration with movement controlled by tilting the device), “Tilt and icons” (manual acceleration via an on-screen icon, with movement controlled by tilting the device), “On-screen controls” (auto-acceleration with movement controlled by an on-screen virtual steering wheel), “Tap to steer” (auto-acceleration with movement controlled by tapping the side of the screen).
The control varies with the model of phone or operating system one uses. The players can also do Spins and barrel rolls which are absolutely heart stealing. In addition to performing standard jumps, the player can also perform flat spins (by drifting onto a ramp) and barrel rolls (by hitting curved ramps). As the jumps earn nitro booster, the longer the airtime, the more boost earned. Blasting the obstacles such as barriers and lamp posts or hitting traffic cars also earns nitros. The Perfect Nitro option introduced in older versions is continued in this also.
Graphics & Sounds
Asphalt 8 has got its players surrounded from all sides. It has its own licensed soundtrack. Actually, it’s the first game to have such feature. The soundtracks are stunning, and with great graphics, the game becomes pinnacle to play. While playing the game the soundtracks make the players forget that they are playing the game. There are three selectable “stations”; bass, rock, electronic and rap. Some of the songs are by most famous artists and albums like “Be Electric” by The Qemists, “Etude” by Nero, “Rocksteady” by The Bloody Beetroots, “Fire Inside” by Gemini, “Stamina” by Vitalic etc. In addition to the licensed songs, Asphalt 8 also features original music composed by Vincent Labelle.
The graphics in Asphalt 8: Airborne are extraordinary. The main focus of Airborne is on jumping, with tracks having a lot more ramps than in previous games. When your car crashes down the screen will break. It looks like our phone actually got cracked. First-time users might panic and also the motions are very clearly depicted.
Its high performance surprises the users. The newly added locations are really good where the mighty mountains of Patagonia thrill the users. And the newly added cars entertain the users with spectacular speeds. The Level design is excellent especially the control options, the nitro system and the jumps and spins.
Even though winning the race gets you more stars but it’s not everything players can get more stars in many other event-specific achievements like making highest no of Barrel Rolls, Knockdowns, Perfect Nitro Triggers etc.
The shortcuts and tunnels idea is great. One can use Tunnels to avoid traffics but will get to deal with the friction of tunnels. We can even discover a shortcut or two along the way. Players generally enjoy to take a different route compared to the other racers, though it does come with mixed results which include letting you reach your destination in a much smaller road, or at other times you end up going around in circles without getting anywhere.
It’s a great game but in-app purchase requests make it slow. These break the flow of the players. Also it’s surprisingly difficult to actually win a race without purchasing in-app purchases. As we move up in the game, it becomes little too difficult. The later season requirements are too intrusive and the grind starts to wear thin after a while. It’s definitely an arcade blast but it’s really hard to top.
Asphalt Airborne is one of the great games which will make the young players forget the world around. At the price, the game can be downloaded, especially if you have the latest hardware. Racers those concentrates fun above anything else will enjoy this game at most. The gaming kings will rock it.
