Are you looking for a new smartphone? Should you buy an iPhone or an Android phone? Don’t worry, you’ll get all your answers in this post. You are not the only one looking for an answer to this question. Approx every first-time smartphone buyer tied him into knots when choosing between them as both are the biggest players of the smartphone market. But now your search has been over. After finishing this article you will be able to choose the most suited operating system for you whether it is ios or android.
First of all, it’s been somewhere about a decade since the first ios device, which was an iPhone, was launched in the middle of the year 2007 and android phones started to appear in the last quarter of the year 2008. Since then both these operating systems have improved significantly. We now have ios version 9 and android 6 (Marshmallow) in our hands and ios 10 and android 7 (Nougat) are just about to come.
Let’s talk about features. In the aspects of features both these operating systems are pretty much the same. Here I am considering iPhones vs flagship android phones, not the ordinary android phones which are slightly on the lower side of the era and have fewer features and price. One cannot state a clear winner in terms of features. Probably android has a little edge over ios as this is the most customizable os available out there. Apple’s ios has its own reasons to dominate the market like simplicity and cleanness.
Ios devices like iPhones and IPads have locked environment as apple wants us to have our every device from them. Take an example of the mail apps from Google and ios. Where Google has made its Gmail app available for all platforms even for ios and windows devices, the mail app from apple is restricted to only ios users. Same goes for other apps made by Apple.
Now coming to the app base. According to a recent report, apple app store has about 1.5 million apps where android’s official play store consists over 1.6 million apps. There are some more on alternative stores like amazon’s own android app store which has some really brilliant apps. And yes there is one more point to consider in terms of apps. Android allows us to build and install our own set of apps. IOs restricts us to only apps available on its own app store.
Most noteworthy aspect is the price. Because, it is the term that affects our decision to buy not only smartphones but everything. Ios devices are costlier than android devices and in terms of variety ios clearly lacks. Where over 5000 devices are running android there are only a few devices running ios. Apple hasn’t made ios available for other manufacturers to install on their products while android has been doing this since the day it launched.
These are the key differences between android and ios. If you know some more things which are not talked here share with me. I’ll include them in my next article. Enjoy reading and learning.
